Help!!! Rattle (fixed)

hello everyone, I own a 07 maxima and recently it started making a rattling noise coming from the right front of the car. It only makes the noise when its going over bumps on the road(not speed bumps just cracks or small bumps) or when I gently give it gas. If I punch it or just speed up it does not make any noise. Ive own the car since new and its had custom wheels since about 500 miles. The car now has 37k miles and this noise is driving me crazy. Have any of you had this proablem? Any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

quick pic of my MAX

Rattling or squeaking? Best thing to do is to put it on a lift and check everything.

Sounds like a rattling noise. Like if something is loose and shaking around. I plan on taking the wheel of tomorrow and taking a closer look.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Maxima suspension issues. There is not any "fix" for your problem. I've had it for 5.5 years, changed just about every suspension part and it never went away. I'm starting to think that it is the subframe connection or something in that area. Its not the strut, endlink, tie rod, caliper, rotor, axle, bearing, tire, or rim. Did I miss anything? I changed all of those parts and I still have it.

I have the rattling @ 1800rpms. Drives me crazy cause that is basically the speed I am going at while driving in my city. So, whenever I drive I have the pleasure of listening to the rattling metal noise that echos off the street-curb right into the car. Totally sucks. I have checked everything and even clamped down the heat-shields....very disappointing.

well if its a rattling noise, it can be fixed or at least found. To the OP, i would jack it up and pull the wheel off and give EVERYTHING an inspection. Check those heat shields too. Make sure nothing has worked its way loose.

You really should change your thread title to something like, Noisy suspension, Help is too generic.

Well im clueless on what it could be. I pulled the wheel off and gave every part a good tug and everything was solid. The only part that moves a little was the sway bar link. But it moves a little on both sides. I even took it to a suspention and alignment shop and they said"I think its the sway bar link" but they were not sure. The heat shield that covers the oil filter area did seem to be a little loose but not enougth to make that kind of noise. Im lost.

i've had exhaust brackets rattle at initial throttle, but not bumps. a hollow thud on bumps would be the strut. warranty might have covered your issue at 36k but no idea.

(sad to say but its true). from what i researched mainly people say its the heat shield and stuff but i tried about everything i even lifted my car and gave it a little gas and nothing. only when i drive it makes this dam rattle noise. have u had any luck on that problem?? i am still trying to solve this issue. if i get a fix on this ill let u know.

Is yours doing it only when the car is accelerating?

To the OP, throw some new end links on there and see if it goes away...they are not that expensive.

How about strut mount? I believe this is an issue with 6.0 Gen, but this would be new to 6.5 Gen, interesting...

I've had several strut mounts, OEM and aftermarket, and neither fixed the noise.

I had a rattle when accelerating but it was a broken clamp on the exhaust. I just put a couple of hose clamps on it and it has been fine ever since.

FINALLY!!!! I gave up on trying to figure out what it was on my car. I took it back to the dealership I purchased it(Nissan Of Elk Grove) I told them about the problem and they did figured that one of my struts was bad. The car has 37k miles and out of warranty. The service rider that I happen to know put in a special request to fix my car because of the fact that struts usually last about 70k miles. Because my car was well documented on maintanace through Nissan they made a repair outside of warranty. WooHoo!!!. Granted I still have the 60k drive train warranty and the 120k powertrain warranty. Ohh I also took my aftermarket wheels off before taking the car in because I didnt what to give them any reason to refuse the service. Well I save over $500 bucks. Thank you Nissan. I cant wait to get my car back tomorrow and put my wheels back on. Ive only put about 500 miles on my stock wheels LOL!!

Thank you Maxima.org and all the members who shared info

Thats what the dealership said. The rattle noise was only while lightly accerlarating or small bumps and cracks on the road. But I guess I will find out tomorrow when I get my car back.

Yes!!!! my car feels like a champ again. A bad strut was making a rattling noise while I was going over small bumps and cracks on the road. Also when lightly accelarating. Big thanks to Nissan Of Elk Grove for fixing my car and a huge thanks to maxima. org for sharing info.
