R.I.P. KC2010s 05 Max!

It's been some time since I last posted here. I just wanted to share with some old friends (Dues and Chernmax, if you guys are still around), that have taught me alot about this car, a great big thanks! I sincerely appreciate the information provided by this community and without fret. Everyone I've met have been great people.

But the last 6 months of ownership has been grueling to say the least. As expected, turning the corner @ 79,000 miles the car started to give out. Knuckles, wheel bearings, half shafts, brakes, calipers, slipping tranny, etc... I spent over $4,000 in just parts in the past 6 months, and $1,000 of that in just the last two weeks of ownership of my beloved Maxima. She was my third and she's my last.

So, where ever you are max, hopefully you're being cared for. Cause I just traded your broke *ss in on a 2010 Camaro SS fully loaded! Have a good life Maxima! I'm out!

PS I still have a few things for sale. Check out the sig.

Meet the black beast! 2010 Camaro SS, 6sp manual, 6.2L LS3 w/ aluminum udp kit, custom paint under the hood. Gray\black leather and the works inside. Catback, CAI, body support kits to be installed this month.

Headers and tune in January for my birthday!!

Oh my, black 6MT Camaro SS...

That is what I call an UPGRADE. Great choice. A shame to hear that your Maxima started to give out after just 79k miles, but man, with a new car like that there's no looking back. Have fun, I'm sure it's a hell of a good time behind the wheel of that beast.

Nice pickup, but just say you wanted a Camaro instead of bashing the Max for regular maintenance

Good times indeed. I didn't mean too, but I dropped it in 3rd getting on IH-10 in Houston @ 65 mph and nailed it. I caught a nice scratch even at that speed. Borderline ridiculous power.

Bashing? Seriously? If $4,000 in parts in 6 months is maintenance, it's not bashing. It's "get out while it's in trading condition". The truth man! Deal!

Or is that bashing again?

C'mon, we all know sooooo many people that regularly change wheel bearings (at a frequency of every two weeks), hunt down knuckles like your life depends on it, change out calipers 2 times in 3 months on the rear, O2 sensor can go on the fritz and they need to replace it along with the cat convertor all within same timeframe. So, if that's bashing, LOOK AT MY BASHED CHECKING ACCOUNT and see if I care about that car. So we went the Camaro.

Like I said, she was my THIRD ONE and last. My 5th was awesome. I miss it. *sigh*
Again, I'm just telling you guys what I've been through. If you were in my situation, with the scenario I'm in, and you still want to spend that much money and chalk it up to "maintenance", feel free to do so.

Come over next weekend. I'll help you install it. I'll text you tomorrow.

Hey, you want a Stillen SS Grille? It's painted black. If not, it could always be cut up and used as fill on a GTR or RLM bumper.

I saw a black 2002 SE tonight at the gas station. It was mint! Waxed and polished with some new shoes. I just stared.

We can sand it back down, throw some self-etching on it, and repaint. It would look brand new. You can have it for free. I have the self-etching primer. Just pick up some flat or semi-gloss black. We could paint it first, then install the YPipe, and by that time the paint will be dry and ready to be installed.

You're the one that got offended because I said just say you want a Camaro

Btw what kind of parts did you buy spending $4000 in 6 months and you didn't swap a trans or engine I'm assuming? You should have traded it before that $4000 that's a lot of money

Yea but if I already spent the 4k then I might as well keep it, and plus the stuff he named was regular stuff you change on a car when you get to that mileage and after. So I was poking fun saying for him to just say he wanted a Camaro I really don't see the big deal about what I said.

i have the regular billet grill at the moment, but some jackass in new orleans backed into while trying to parallel park his 350 dually...denting a few rows of the aluminum.

so i don't mind a better grill.

Hell yeah, that's an upgrade right there. Nice pick up dude. Good luck with it. My sister has one just like it, I drove it and that thing is so much fun to drive.

oh man that is a beast. A guy I work with has an orange one with black stripes and it is mean. I think the best thing for that car is the "phantom grill." Pretty sure that's what it is called. It covers the grill and the lights and the lower air dam area. I recommend going straight through exhaust with glass packs installed.

Best of luck Bro, thanks for the shout out! I love the new Camaro! I use to own a 1989 Black Chevy IROC-Z with the V-8 350 vet engine. Sold it when I moved to Japan, came back a Nissan Lover, but we also have a Chevy Trailblazer in the garage too, we're a multicultural family!

Damn man...way to project your manhood. Now everyone is going to know you have a small D!<k...

I wish I had a small one too, I'd be able to fit in one of those Camaro's and really enjoy it...

All kidding aside, nice choice in ride. I actually do envy you.

I'd like to see Chern and KC2010 give it a go on the 1/4 mile just to see what happens.

Nice pickup on the Camaro. Its come a long way since my 1986 Camaro with its 2.8 liter V6 pumping out a whopping 135 HP.

Sorry to hear about your Max. I am experiencing some of the same pains. I have also owned 3 and this will be my last. Debating on getting something different as well. It really went downhill when they started building them in America. Sick Camaro by the way. However not sure a Chevy will be much better at 79000 miles.

Thank you for the education! And how to respect other Max owners.

I'm still curious. You told me on the phone you were trying to push past the 350 threshold on your tranny. Did your mechs ever find a way around it?

I share the same concern as well. But I'm at 3800 miles now and there are 3 guys in my neighborhood, besides my father, who do frame-up rebuilds of old chevy's and extreme modding of newer GTOs, Trans Ams, and Pickup Trucks (drag racing, etc..). One guy had a pro lift installed in his garage at the time he had his foundation installed. I looked around and realized I had quite a few Chernmax type of guys next door to bug for info.

And yes, this is a deed restricted and well enforced neighborhood. These guys have major mod addictions. Rode in a tubbed out 67 Camaro SS with blower pushing 800+ at the rear last Sunday. Insane... pure and simple.

Awesome car in an awesome color. American muscle is alive and well. Only problem for my situation is that the Camaro does not have four doors (which would ruin the car). I truley want a "four-door sports car" and it's unfortunate that the 6th gen Maxima fits that bill for me, but with serious concerns regarding reliability. I have just had my cats, engine and manual transmission replaced, under waranty, in the last 3000 miles. My Max has just now out-grown the powertrain waranty and even with all the new hardware, I stay awake at night trying to determine whether I should keep my Max or dump it. I pray that the 7th gen Max is reliable.
