6speed transmission issues....2006 Maxima

Started the car, backed it out to wash it. Then pulled it back into the garage to dry it off/clean interior/detail.

I got back in it to drive to the store and upon startup heard a racket coming from transmission. To best describe the sound would be...a small bb or two being tossed around inside of it. It was very evident when the car was cold, I let it run then drove it around the block. It doesn't feel right going into second gear. It either clangs going into second, or grinds just a tad. I am assuming it may be a syncro. But why all of the sudden? Anyone ever experienced anything like this? Have any advice? It also makes an odd noise when first taking off in first gear too, like a faint tat tat tat...until you're completely out of the clutch.

Thanks.

The sound makes me think it might be a throwout bearing.

It's making whirling/whining sounds when gearing down to first. Like coming down the street about to pull into the driveway, put it in first it sounds off. Something is amiss, taking it to Nissan Tuesday morning.

It's got an extended bumper to bumper full warranty. Obviously clutch related items aren't included but if it's internal tranmission related then hopefully I won't be out too awful much. While it's apart I'm going to go ahead and put a new throwout bearing in it.

Took the car to the local Nissan dealership this morning. It's getting a new transmission/clutch assembly put in it.

They didn't take it apart or anything, just called for the new transmission.

Under warranty thank god.

Is the six speed maxima transmission also made my Aisin Warner or is it a Japanese transmission?
