I just had my tensioners changed here in Virginia on my 2005 Maxima and it costs me a total of $1056.00. The car doesn't make the loud ticking noise any longer and the tech said if I had driven it much longer with the bad tensioners that my engine would have went. I am now dealing with transmission problems, and tried to let the tech install my shift kit and I'm not sure if he installed it wrong or what, but it didn't work and now my TCS off, SLIP, and ABS light are on and the tiptronic mode is stuck in 5th gear and they weren't before i took it to the tech.

wow im at 78k. Its weird because it takes it a few turns longer to start, the sound goes away when its warm, and im not positive but i think im getting worse mileage. Oh and it only is in like the 2k-3.5k rpms

The tensioners seem to be going mostly around 75K-100K. Some have gone sooner, some later, but mostly people seem to be seeing it between 75-100k.

Yep, mine went at 86,000. It cost my warranty company 1183.66. Thank God I spent that $900 on a warranty!

BTW, if I were some of you, I would see if you can buy a warranty from your local Nissan dealership. At the one I work at, I knew the timing chain tensioners were going to go bad so I bought a $900 warranty that covers my powertrain for 2 years or 24,000 miles. $900 for the warranty plus my $100 deductible saved me alot of money. If I had to pay to have it done instead of the warranty, it would've cost me about $1800. So I saved $800 and still have about a year and a half of warranty left.
