TPMS do i need them on new tires install?

First of all, I want to thank everyone on this site, you guys make our Maximas one of kind!...ok here we go...I am about to get a new set of tires from Tirerack.com and as I check out they have this thing called Tire Pressure Monitoring System sensors available for $188.00. Do i need tire pressure monitoring systems install when putting new tires? i will be putting them on the OEM wheels. Maxima SL 2007

You don't have to purchase the TPMS sensors from tirerack as your factory wheels already have them installed. Mount the new tires onto your OEM wheels and you are good to go.

Just remind the shop that your car does have the TPMS and to be very careful when they're replacing the tires so that they dont damage the sensors. Also, the TPMS does not need to be reset after they're done replacing the tires so dont let them charge you a fee for that -- you only have to reset/reprogram the system if you're replacing the sensors

Some places will charge for a TPMS rebuild kit (around $5-$10/tire) so that one is up to you (http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/bro...RebuildKit.jsp) -- I didnt bother with it since my wheels were holding air fine and I was only replacing the tires

I bought my tires from TireRack last Dec and the small tire shops were cheap but I didnt want to risk having them damage the sensors, and the other tire shops wanted to charge way too much since I didnt buy my tires from them -- I got lucky that a local performance shop was running a promo so I had them installed for cheap plus they did a great job

I would check with the shop you have them installed at and see if they have rebuild kits for the sensors. The rebuild kit includes a new rubber grommet/o-ring, nut, valve core and valve cap. Similar to this:
