LED cornering lights resistor needed?

Okay so I ordered some LED cornering lights from EBAY. When I was installing them, I plugged them in, and they both blew instantly. I cannot figure out what the problem is. Do I need a resistor? Im worried about buying another set of LEDs until I figure this out.

Did you have the lights on or off when installing them?

I forget what the fix is but I had this problem years ago, I never got a set to actually work in there but my cornering lights have been gone for ever now. Maybe someone will chime in...

Im guessing the parking light fuse blew, I just went through it several times myself.

Its in the top right corner of the underhood fuse box.

I bought some LED bulbs from another member a few weeks ago. Couldnt get them to work. Plugged in another bulb (Red LED) and they worked fine. Tried both whites again and it would blow the fuse every time... I gave up, sent them back.

Chris-The headlights were on because I couldnt find a way to make them light without the headlights.

KC-I had that same problem. I forgot to add in that when I tried it with a red LED of the same bulb size from the same company it worked perfectly. I will check if I blew a fuse because the old bulbs are still working fine.

So is there no way to get LED cornering lights? I just want a way to match the cornering lights to my switchbacks and hid fogs/headlights.

I am installing LED corner lights in my RLM bumper and when I tested the lights on the car, I noticed that they did not come on. The lights worked when I hooked them up to a 12V power supply. Any ideas?

May be you folks need to add low ohms but high wattage load resistor across the LED bulb.

LED's have polarity, did you try them the other way?

I had a pair two years ago. They worked. Problem was they didn't direct the light properly and was just for show. Removed them. They were the tower led's. I'll look for them.

Yeah.... I'm having the same trouble. I just bought these...
3156 Wedge Base Bulbs
Had the bumper off headlight housings off ....plugged them in and nothing.... turned them around and nothing.... I did make sure that the headlights were on as well as the turn signal (of coarse)..... Very disappointed.... they didn't blow anything... they just didn't work.... I did notice though that the original bulbs that are in there are NOT 3156 .... they were a number close to that... but different.... I... for the life of me...... can not remember what it was... (kicking myself now) I have tested the LEDs with wires hooked up straight to the battery and found the positive and negative sides and labeled them on the bulb and they DID work hooked up straight..... what the hell is going on?

I used these 3156 Towers. Took them out years ago but they did work.

GOT IT!

Ok... I got them to work.... The problem was that the plastic wedge part of the new LED was slightly larger than the factory bulb, thus, not allowing it to get all the way into the socket. What I did to remedy this situation was taking the wires on the LED and straightening them out to where they would make contact in the base of the socket (even though the LED bulb was not all the way in) This seems to work ok. Don't forget everyone.... that the LED's are polarized... which means that they have to go one way only.... so.... if it doesn't work in one direction .... flip it around. I took some wires and figured out which leg was positive and which one was negative on the LED and labeled them so I would know.

Oh.... and the bulbs ARE 3156 ... I was incorrect in saying that they weren't in my previous post. There are a few other numbers on the base of the factory bulb though. I'm not sure what they are for.
