Tail light replacement
Tail light replacement
The upper rear bulb is out and needs to be replaced on the 2007 Maxima. I noticed that there are two circular plastic devices holding the trunk trim in place.
Before I break them, does anybody know how to properly remove and replace them.???
Thanks in advance for any info.

Make sure you have your bulb first. I ended up going to the dealership to buy it after two bulb purchases previosuly failed to provide me with the correct bulb even though the serial numbers matched....
With a flat-head screw driver. Get in there and see how the parts move. Do this is warm weather, or in a warm garage. Plastic gets quite brittle when it is cold. Once they are out, pull back the trunk-trim and you will see the two nuts holding the tail-light assembly to the car. Take them off. Now, some guys tape around the body of the tail-light assembly, especially at the bottom, so when you gently rock it out it the assembly does not scratch the paint. It is held in place with rubber-stabilizer plugs, the same way the air-box is held in the engine bay. So, a little effort, rocking, is required to get it out
Other than that...too simple.

Thanks for the info. I stopped in the local independent Nissan shop and the tech there changed it in about 3 minutes. Shop owner wouldnt take my money.
Between watching the tech and the replies above, I'll know how to do the right side bulb when it fails.
Thanks.
