Now I do not know if my wifes Maxima is a 5 speed or 4 speed auto. Is there a way to tell from the tranny number or VIN? The car is all taken apart and I am trting to get a new tranny. I always thought the RE5F22A was a 5 speed. I need educated.

 

Call your local delear and give then your VIN and they will tell you exactly what you have from factory. Don't worry it's free service.

 

Have you checked the Information Sticker on the doorjam of the drivers side, its a white sticker and it has the VIN, tranny number and the engine model along with other info, I checked mine and it says RE5F22A and I have a 2004 max SL with the 5 speed. Hope this helps.
