This has been a damn nightmare, but the only question I have is, when I removed the axle from I am going to assume the transaxle some fluid started leaking out.

Can someone give me an idea of what kind of fluid I need to use here and where to fill it.

 

Olive oil. Just pour it on your axle. You need an engine flush.

 

 

Really, I dont get it that you are good enough to remove an axle and not know where you removed it from and what fluid dripped, and where to fill. Seriously, I am shocked and embarassed.

 

If its a manual transmission it requires GL4 gear oil, Nissan sells theirs in Qt's for $11.00 or you can use Redline or AMSOIL GL4. If you need it now and don't wish to spend $$ on boutique oil go to your local NAPA store and ask for Sta-Lube (CRC) # SL24239 gallon jug, or NAPA # 75-210 also a gallon. The trans drain and fill are on the drivers side and are 10mm allen caps, the capacity is 3+ quarts. If its an auto maybe someone else can help as I have no idea.

 

Totally uncalled for! The only thing you should be embarassed about is your comment. This member has come to the forum for help and he gets ridiculed?! You should be ashamed, not shocked.

 

his comment was right on, relax. if you are able to pull an axle, you should be able to tell which goddamn fluid is required for your vehicle. These types of questions are nothing but waste of bandwidth and visitor's time. this forum does get ridiculous at times- you won't find this anywhere esle on internet, not on honda, not on mercedes (my family members own these two, so I visit those places quite often as well), only here.

Not everyone is a freakin' mechanic. I could take a wrench and take a whole car apart, disassembly is the easy part. Remembering what goes where when putting it back together can be the challenging part. When members come to ask for help, that's what should be provided to them. Not sarcasm and ridicule.

 

Just take the owner manual and read what oil goes where. If you can take out an axle, you can read a manual, and figure out where is the transmission, and what oil goes in it.

I would have helped a newbie regarding transmission oil, but I'm not going to tell a guy who took his axle off that it was connected to the transmission. Really. If you take your car apart, at least know a minimum, or dont take it apart.
