Research the Maxima before you buy it

Just got off the phone with Nissan consumer affairs, what a joke. What a POS company and service these clowns offer to Nissan owners. I have had issues with the dealership trying to get a call back to get the car checked out for leaky moon roof, leaky hoses (replaced a couple of months ago) and no AC. Case was closed due the moon roof being out of warranty and already fixed? Hmm when it rains it pours in my car. I had to call a “neutral” 3rd party that handles complaints against manufactures before they turn into a lawsuit, which Nissan gave me 1-800-955-5100.

This is a ridiculous? I have to go through this process to get the car checked out? I’m not even thinking lawsuit, yet.

This is warning amongst the posts already on the forum about the Maxima. Do your research on this car or any other Nissan, I let my guard thinking that Nissan was reliable. I was wrong. The issues that other owners post are what you will experience with the Maxima.

I’m not hating on the car, I just hate the issues I have experienced with owning the Maxima. Doesn’t seem to indicative to the car.

My Pros:
1. Good styling
2. HP is good

My Cons
1. Quality is lacking in components (dash,*****, etc)
2. Gas Pig
3. Leather is pleather
4. Bose system is a joke
5. Nickel and Dimed on small issue that can lead to bigger issues
6. Heavy car
7. 6 speed tranny is clunky
8. 2004-2006 known issues that are ignored by Nissan?
9. Timing chain ramps are made of plastic, mine replaced at 70k
10. Paint poor quality
11. Exterior parts seem to fade or peel away (side moldings, my chrome rims)

Yes some of these issues can be fixed , but why does one even have to bother with it? I expect this from a domestic car but from Nissan?

Wow, i did not know ou had such a horrible experience with your ride. I definiely feel for you and now I know why you posted in that other thread. Thats one hell of a list. They definitely dropped the ball on the 04-06 cars. I have had 5 Nissan vehicles and hadnt had too much trouble over the years.

Again that really sucks and no one should deal with that bull****. I am sorry you had to deal with that. I hope you can sell/trade your car in for something you want. Good luck man.

Really sorry about your experience man and yes, 6th gens require a bit more maintenance than other vehicles due to the fact that they were made in the US.

All in all, you basically own a domestic vehicle at this point.

These are obviously your "my pros and my cons" or personal opinions and experiences, which of course is fine. I have had my car for over 7 years since I bought it new and have had very few if any of the issues (or carry the same opinions) you are having, along with a majority of the members on the forum.

Opinion noted, no need for further discussion.
Hopefully you can get into another car that will make you happy.
