Car wont idle after nwp spacer install!?

So today I decided to change the spark plugs, new brakes and rotors & install the NWP Spacer kit that ive had forever...Everything went well up to the point to when I tried to turn the car on..It just wont idle...I followed all instructions in the kit all the way thru and got to the idle relearn process, followed it step by step....and nothing, it wont take it...Tried disconnecting the battery and the egr, nothing again..When I turn the car on I have to keep my foot on the gas pedal to keep it running, once it gets to about 3k rpm it shoots all the way to almost redline. It sounds great with the exhaust and the fujita I have installed, but when I let go of the gas and let the rpm's come down it shuts off..I can't keep it running. If I keep the pedal slightly down to get it to stay between 1k-2500k it just sputters. It almost feels like its getting too much gas for the air pressure at idle rpm's.. I spoke with Mr.Dollar about it because I had seen that this was up for discussion before in the NWP Spacer DIY thread, but it didnt say if it ever got figured out. He suggested to take everything apart again and re do it all and make sure I get enough rtv on the spacers so there wouldnt be a leak anywhere. I plan on doing this on sunday all over again If re-doing everything doesnt solve my problem, what can be causing this and how else can I get it to work? I need the car out of the garage to bring to the shop to my new VB replaced!!

Sounds like you have an intake leak.

i've been skeptical about spacers, velocity stacks, different story. but spacers. What are the gains expected with these things?

This is a simple problem you have an intake leak, go back make sure everything is torqued and make sure nothing is caught inbetween the UIM and LIM. Make sure there are no leaks between the MAF and TB as this could also be your problem. You shouldnt need RTV but it will help seal careful you dont get any into the intake ports.

I had some what of the same problem it wasnt no leak though had to keep giving it gas to keep it on, rolled down a couple of back streets then, freeway went back home let it idle and it didnt shut off got better actually then next day gone...did the relearn which didnt work at all...and now good should double check if there is a leak though..Good Luck...

With the NWP Spacers, it specifically says to use RTV. The spacers are hard and will not make a tight seal without it. I had NO problems and I just followed the instructions. Most of the problems are from installation error. I hope the OP gets this resolved, it's a worthwhile mod.

get someone to get on the gas pedal, just enough to keep the engine running then spray the mating surfaces with some spray carb cleaner, you should be able to find or notice if it has a leak or where it's coming.. It's worth a try.. Good luck

I remember using way more RTV than I thought I would need, good thing I bought extra just in case.
