Installing DRL..Help needed!
Just moved to Canada and bought my car with me. In order to get the state inspection complete I need to install DRL. I bought a DRL kit from Canadian Tire. It is a Hamsar 45040 and it came with 6 cables:
1 - On the spark plug (detects the signal), or in any 12v ignition source (when the car is on)
2 - Battery +
3 - Ground
4 - Parking Lights +
5 - Headlight Low Beam +
6 - Headlight High Beam +
I was wondering if anyone has a DIY link in order to install the kit. Also, is it possible to use the fogs as the DRL. Any help is appreciated!

Maybe some of this info will help...
Battery 12v - Green at ign harness
Ign (+) - Red at ign harness
Parking lights (+) - Red/blue at the fuse panel
Low Beam (+) - Blue and Red/Yellow...............YOU MUST COMBINE THESE TWO WIRES USING A RELAY TO ENERGIZE BOTH HEADLAMPS.
High Beam (+) - Green and Blue/White............YOU MUST COMBINE THESE TWO WIRES USING A RELAY TO ENERGIZE BOTH HEADLAMPS.

Well, they probably won't, which is probably due to both generating more work and based on their policy. Any private shop, however, should be able to do the safety inspection. Just take a run in and ask em. They usually have a sign in their window or on the wall stating that they do safety inspections.
When you go to big corporate garages, like Canadian Tire, it is a money grab for the most part. They are looking for work to do. You should find, however, that most, not all of course, private shops are much more forgiving when it comes to safety inspections, and will probably not pay any attention to the DRL issue. From my experience in New Brunswick, Canada, that is the case.
Good luck.

Bootz: THank you for your input. Do you have any help how I can get it done?
Terrentius: A quick google search found me a lot of places that do safety inspections. Should I just goto them without the DRL installed? Also, should I be upfront to them and tell them I dont have DRL's? If the inspection fails one time, will I have to pay to get it done again? I am new to this and all help is appreciated!

Well bro, just stop by and tell em that you need a safety inspection. Or give em a call.
By chance are you driving around London lately? Have you noticed cars without headlamps on during the day? If you have, then you not having DLRs is not going to be an issue when you get your safety inspection done. There are tons of US cars in my city that do not have DLRs, and I doubt that it is really any different in Ont. Like I said, just take a look at the oncoming traffic when you are out. If you see more a than a few cars without DRLs, then I think you will be safe.
So, IMHO, do not bring the kit you bought from Canadian Tire when you get your car inspected. Just leave your car as it is.
As for your car failing the inspection, I am not sure. In New Brunswick, they check for frame/body rust, and also check the serviceability of your brakes (all five of them), struts/shocks, springs, and all the lights. If your car fails, you gotta get that stuff replaced or fixed. As for paying for another inspection fee, well here they just replace/fix what needs to be fixed and give you the pass. If you, on the other hand, fix it yourself or go to another shop to get the work done, then you are going to have to pay them to do another inspection. They are not going to do that stuff for free, though I am quite sure you know that. If your car in in good shape, then you shouldn't have much to worry about.
