Bad front right ball joint, need whole control arm?

(OLD reborn thread, see lower for updates)
got parts on ebay from maximum_suspension

half the parts died between 4 months and 2 years.
car immediately drove worse than oem with the ebay links. came back way better after I replaced with moog links.

Ended up going moog and beck/arnley all around.

Bad front right ball joint, need whole control arm? Seems like you cant just replace the ball joint. Anyone?

Control arm is 275$ here, pretty expensive for a f** ball jojnt...

Just get both control arms on ebay from a Canadian seller. I think I got both for about that much. Had both replaced at the same time, was about 2.5 hours of labour. Might as well do them both and then have your alignment done afterwards.

All used parts here it seems on that site.

Or maybe I should get them both from courtesy nissan parts, 175 US, still better.

Worth it changing both even if left is ok, or not ?

Yeah thats the seller. If you need the rest of those parts get them. If not he sells just the arms by themselves. I suppose its only a couple more hours labour for the rest of those suspension parts to go in. If there's enough KM's on the car maybe it's worth it to do it all at once. Your call.

Ya I saw the 2 arms only, but I'm at 130 000km so I figure it would be worth it changing it all once, get an alignment, and be done with it?

Good parts? Will last a while ?

Shoild I change all rear parts too or not?

I recently changed my control arms/ball joints thinking the control arm bushings were worn out (84,000 miles) and causing wheel hop and a shudder when accellerating hard over bumps. Didn't help a damn thing. They are super easy to change though. 3 bolts hold the control arms on to the chassis and just the 1 nut hold the ball joint to the spindle. Once I found my ball joint separator it only took 30 minutes per side to change. I wouldn't worry about the rear end. Most of the wear is on the front end because it's front wheel drive and the steering.

oh guess what, those ebay parts were a piece of ****.
6 months later both stab bart links go bad, replaced with moog.
inner tie rod ends were replaced because I changed the rack and pinion thinking it was the reason for a clunk.
6 months later replaced one of the control arms cause ball joint was loose.
Now, right ball joint is scrap again.

Not buying anymore those crappy no name car parts.
Will have worked 5x the time on the car, and I end up replacing all those parts anyway. Can you say piece of garbage, eh.
Should have bought premium parts the first time.

I bought beck & arnley parts locally (OEM).
Cost me a crapload but at least I know that I have quality parts that will last the rest of the life of the car.
I got 2 new control arms + 2 new tie rod ends.
Finally, I have replaced all those ****ty ebay parts.
4 aligments later, 3-4x the job, many hours lost to replace defective(new)parts.

Learned the lesson: never buy economy parts, it will cost more down the way, in time, hassle, labor and friggin alignments.

Just letting you know.

Maybe you got a good batch and I did not, who knows.

after 4 months, My stab bar endlink was shot, right ball joint was loose.
seller sent me another ball control arm for free.
and now the new one (less than 2 years old) was clunking and had vertical play....

With that kind of quality, I am just glad to know that all those ****ty parts are gone from my car. The tie rod ends were still good, but I don't care, an alignment is 70$ and those are 90$ for both, I am sick of doing the same job over and over again.

I don't even drive much on rough roads, and all parts were installed to torque specified by nissan.... can you say piece of **** parts.

Done for good this time.

I ask because high mileage max's seem to always have suspension, shaft, axle, ect problems when they are lowered.

If you love your car don't buy suspension parts on ebay...there are alot of different after market manufacturers and some of them are not made very well. If you have a napa auto parts near by your best bet is to get a set of loaded control arms from them as they come with a lifetime warranty... so next time they wear out you go get new ones free of charge from napa. Other than that I would go with a set from Nissan. If you dont want to pay full price then give them a tax id, weather you have one is up to you...lol
