I just installed Tein springs on my car and it RAISED the rear 3/4". What happened?? I followed the instructions posted here: http://forums.maxima.org/6th-generat...ions-pics.html All I did was take out the old spring and put the new one in (I made sure to get the spring seated in the stop on the bottom). ANY IDEAS?

 

Maybe you put them on upside down? Or maybe they're knockoffs?

 

They appear to be legit Tein springs. Can putting on a spring upside down do that? I don't think I did, but I wouldn't have associated those two.

 

hummm!! I don't think putting them upside down would change the stance of the car.. But now that you mention the car being raised a bit from the back I think I'll install the rear springs too! Do you have any pics of the car?

 

you do realized that it takes almost up to a month before the springs settles in.

this is normal , after we do springs install, we usually go drive and do some light braking , that helps a bit to settle it in.

as long as you follow instructions,

if you put the springs backwards up, that means its not sitting in right,

some springs have differnt size from top to bottom , it has to sit in the right place.

Why not just keep those springs on it and throw some 26s on it?

 

OK, so maybe I started this thread in haste. I said to myself "It is what it is" and left them on and went for an alignment. After I got home I measured again and the rear is sitting right around 27.5 inches, right where they should be.

This is the first car I've put any springs on and wasn't aware of the "settling in" period. Also, since I bought them used, I didn't get any sort of installation instructions to tell me that.

Everything's all good now. This has been quite a learning experience for me. So maybe this thread won't be a complete waste, maybe another "lowering springs noob" will find this thread and realize that EVERYTHING WILL BE OK!

The front is about 1.5 inches lower and the rear about .5 inches lower.

How do you like the ride quality compared to stock? Are you still using stock shocks?

 

I switched to new KYB GR-2's about a month ago. I could tell a difference (stiffer) when I switched those but I haven't really got to drive it enough with the new springs to tell about the ride quality.

 

Hmmmmm... I had the exact opposite happen.

I installed some Tein springs on the rear that I purchased from someone here and they sag, bigtime. Not sure what I did wrong, if anything... I have found out, after receiving them, that they are fake Teins but, they looked great on their Maxima. Is there a top/bottom to these when installing them? I just made sure they fit the top and bottom isolators.

 

I know they have to settle, but raised? No way. As chernmax already stated, this has never happened to anybody on this forum.

 

I swear, they actually raised the rear end 3/4" at first. But as I stated, once I drove it and got an alignment, it went down to where it should be.
