Tensioner huh???

Ok so i brought a drive belt to replace cause the one installed is cracked and could give away anytime, i brought the car to pepboys to change and the guy said that the 6th gen model tensioner snaps 55% and if it does they will have to buy a new one, my question is this true and what is this tensioner? Am lost here cause pepboys dont have the part seems like they will have to order the part elsewhere but labor is 100+ to install the tensioner

i went to pep boys once, they tried to screw me over. I told them i was a mechanic and that i want in writing what they just told me. they refused to write it and the manager said "mis-diagnosis" just happen. similar story happened with a friend of mine.

they are also #2 in line with overpriced services. dealership is #1. i would take your car somewhere else. this is called bargain shopping, go around and see who will beat the last quote. you WILL save money this way. And yes, a tensioner is not something service shops will usually have on hand. you will have to order it wherever you go.

will NEVER deal with them again. its more like "cars like us, wallets love us"

If you know how to change the tensioners than get genuine Nissan parts. The new models are less likely to mess up.

www.courtesyparts.com

or try the stealership (probably will cost an arm and a leg from them though.)

Try another mechanic, I feel that pepboys is trying to screw you as twentyeggs said (with his experience) I have never heard that those tensiones SNAP as easily as he said
