Catastrophic A/C Repair
The A/C only blows warm air in my 2007 Maxima SL. One shop tried a valve and hose fix with freon recharge and that didn't fix it. Another shop says the Compressor, Condenser, and Evaporator/Dryer all need to be replaced to the tune of $1200.
The car has 70,000 miles but even so, that seems a bit extreme. Does that sound reasonable or do I need a 3rd opinion?

I would definetly get a 3rd opinion. I cannot see the compressor, condensor and evaporator all being bad. Do you know if it's leaking the refridgerant, compressor just isn't kicking on, or what exactly is going on with it? If it's just leaking off have a shop put some dye in the system so they can pinpoint where it's leaking.

wash your car, top to bottom, (i really mean, spray down the bottom really good), turn your car on and take a black light, get under your car, and look for a leak. I would seriously get a 3rd 4th and 5th opinion. don't let them take you for over a grand. if you do have bad components, its really easy to replace them yourself.

Yeah as the guys said thats extreme and highly unlikely that all 3 of those have messed up at the same time, but more than likely its the Condensor. The Condensor probably has a hole in it as a result of road debris, same thing happened to me on the Max a couple years ago....It was just blowing hot air.
