Snapped an OEM spring!

WTF!? The GF was casually pulling out of the driveway and we both heard a BB-gun type loudness bang sound, thought maybe she bottomed out? Two minutes later, my phone rings, car won't go anywhere.

An entire coil broke clean off, and the whole spring dropped down barely catching the perch, while the breakpoint of the spring wedged/cut into the sidewall of the tire, ruining it. I was able to jack it up, get the broken coil out, and reposition the spring onto the perch so it would support the vehicle and not cut into the tire, so we could carefully drive it home with the hazards on. Weird part is, the springs have virtually zero corrosion on them.

Has anyone had this happen to their 6th gen? Car is a completely stock 04 SE 4-seater that we bought pre-owned, is there a way to get Nissan to cover this sort of repair given it's out of warranty? Super dangerous problem with absolutely zero warning signs.

Pics?

I've had this happen before but it was on a spring that was partially cut previously and it finally just broke. This is extremely wierd and unlikely if the springs weren't cut, rusted, or damaged in some way.

Curious as to the mileage on your '04.......I wouldn't get your hopes up for any type of assistance from Nissan.

Previous collision damage, maybe??

No previous collisions, no rust on the springs. I'll snap pics tomorrow.

The car has just over 275 000 km's on it (a little over 171 000 miles) and is 100% all original aside from brakes, tires and a cam sensor.
