Time for new rubber!
Well it's that time of year when it's out with the old and in with the new! Going with some different other than my normal BF Goodwich G-force KDW-II
This year I'm trying Nitto 555 Xtreme performance 245-40ZR18's
Since I have a full racing spare I had to buy 5! Need full spare because donut won't work over my F/R Wilwood BBK

^ Don't know where you read those reviews from but lots of people state that "Nitto 555 is one of the worst so-called performance tires ever made." A better alterntaive that people recomend is the Falken 452. Only good side to them is that they are fairly cheap but that is because the desgin of them is old.

i loved the nitto 555 i wore on the front of my s14. my rear had 275/40/17 555r type II. they were the best tire for holding power and get 15k+ mi out of and yes the price is awesome.
watch what people say about tires. trust from experience

Average customer reviews!

http://www99.epinions.com/reviews/Ni...rformance_Tire
http://www.1010tires.com/Tires/Revie.../nitto+-+nt555
And both the Falken 452 and Nitto 555 Extreme have a UTQG rating of 300 AA Hmmmmmmm....
Last, I purchased these tires for my handling characteristics and driving environment, yours may differ, it's part of the homework one must do before just slapping tires on their ride!
The thread title does not say, BUY THESE TIRES!!!

Not B/S and here is proof directly from tirerack and those guys know when it comes to tires and how they stack up. Sorry man but its the truth. Its the second worse tire in the summer performance category.
BTW i dont see why you took my post to heart so much when i did not even reply to your post.

In that field of tires (including cost spread) I don't know how in your mind you translate a 10 point spread to being such a worse tire. That's nothing!!!
Falkin 452 = 1 Excellent, 2 Very Good, 5 Good, 1 Fair
Nitto 555 = 4 Very Good, 4 Good, 1 fair (In noise, heck my former BFG KDW-II rated poor in that catagory and I loved those tires!)
And I didn't take you post to heart but it is MY thread!
LOL, it's all good, I'm happy...

Im just saying if you only buy tires based on reviews, tirerack did the math/testing and out of all the tires offered in that summer tire category, The Nitto came second to last even if the point difference is minimal. Nothing else to argue about and it is what it is. The tire did not score good. It just seems like you dont want to agree with it but meh whatever.

Because I evaluate the good with the bad and don't want a tire with a fair thread life!

In the end, to each it's own and also, as Chern said. The traction life on those falken's aren't worth it IMO

Chern, have you even used these tires before? If you haven't than who are you to dispute his personal opinion of them. I actually have had the 555's before and they were absolutely horrible. So horrible in fact that I only ran them for about 9 thousand miles before switching back to some kuhmo's. Enjoy those 555's, lmao.

I had Nitto tires and they were pretty comparable to my Falkens. I will be completely honest, the best tires I have owned to date are the Continental Extreme All Season tires I had. Those tires hooked up better in the rain and snow than all my tires including the stock, and they worked great in the sand and on the pavement. They seemed like they never lost tread too. the Falkens I had lasted only about 10k miles with my driving habbits. the Nittos lasted about 12k. I think you made a good choice. You will enjoy them. with all that power under the hood, might be a problem in the rain. I would not use these in the winter time that is for sure. Also when they are warm and on dry pavement, they stick like glue which is a huge plus. The Falkens were the same in that aspect. Not so much the Continentals. Whatever you do, don't get them Siped. I got a set of tires Siped at Discount Tires, and ripped the center of my tire tread out.

Why are you trying to start an argument over a person's choice of tires? Just because you and the other guy don't like them doesn't mean they're bad tires. Like you said, it's just opinions. If you feel that strongly about yours than fine, that's ok. Just explain the reasons why, there's no need to attack the OP. He just wanted to show off the new tires he bought.

And....is that all you gotta say because every single one of your posts has been either negative or useless. Why don't you go somewhere else and stop wasting people's time.

Over 7+ years that's nothing compared to people who just change cars every 3-4 years. Not to mention if you knew more about my ride verse talking ****, you'd know I was one of the few on this forum who actually R&D a lot of 6th gen performance parts and most items I got for free from sponsors! Not to mention I have more than enough cash and can do whatever the *** I want with it without your approval, so stop trying to count my money, stop acting like a little biatch, and stay on topic!

Very cool Chern, hopefully after you put those on you will be back with an update on how they perform, Im trying to decide on tires for my 7th Gen, the reviews are all adequate at best, reading 200 reviews to find maybe 10 people with similar cars is a pain, but I do find that some of the worst rated tires perform the best
Anyways good luck and have fun with your new tires

Thanks, no for the winter I use my SUV, heck this is my daily driver, had it 7+ years and just now broke 60K miles, 28K on the rebuilt motor! As for rain yeah, my power would even break loose my BFG's if I stomped down on it. These tires will be great since I don't drive my car like a biatch, smooth cool driven with people lookin!

Chern I agree with your responses. I've owned Falken 452s and Nitto 555s and both sets of tires were great. My Nittos did a lot of track duty and still lasted a long time. How many miles do you currently have on your 555s? These tires are way better than POS RSAs they came with lol!

OK finally got my rims back from the body shop today (have to wait till late tomorrow or Saturday for mounting), why buy new when you can RE-New!!! The shop did an awesome job! Rims look better than when I first bought them!!! Did some detailing on the brake disc also and the 5mm spacers, should look great once I get everything back on!
