Dirty Air Filter

Hello,

My air filter keeps getting dirty with a black grit yuckie gunk after 5000 miles. I have cleaned all the intake housing and have no oil leaks. I live in the San Diego CA area and only drive on local freeways 70% of the time. Any ideas of why this might be happening? This started around 50k oil change. I changed it at 45k and at 50k it was dirty so I changed it again and now it looks like every 5k I need to change my filter.

Road construction, smog, ect?

Hard to say. Im assuming you have the OEM airbox still in play? Might not be getting sealed right or could be wrong filter.

It might be road tar or some of that mexican fuel people around here are using. I need to change my MOUNTING RUBBER-RADIATOR,UPPER or that's what nissan call it so I will clean the crap out of that area and check for any leaks. The air box looks sealed with no cracks.

Thanks
