Steering Air Bag

Hey guys, anyone successfully remove the Nissan emblem in the airbag? If so, how did you go about doing so? i am in the process of converting my interior from frost to black so i am wanting to dye/paint the parts that are too expensive to just replace with OEM parts. TIA!

I'm not sure if the emblem is glued on, or if it's riveted through the airbag cover. I thought there was a thread where someone tried to remove theirs, and couldn't get it off...is there any way to dye around it?

im not looking to go aftermarket. as i said in the initial post, im converting the car from frost to black. ive already swapped out the wheel and i am retaining the heated function. my goal is to remove the nissan emblem and to reinstall it after i color it.

Quick question. I was in an accident and my steering wheel airbag deployed. Does anyone know how to remove the deployed one and what steps I need to take to install the new one?

Look on the backside of the wheel, at the 4 and 8 O'clock positions, and you'll see a plastic button on either side. Remove the buttons, and remove the 10mm bolts under each button. The whole airbag assembly will then lift straight out towards you...unplug the electrical connections, and you're done.

I believe you'll have to go to the dealership for a new airbag assembly, unless you can snag one off of Ebay. Reinstall is the reverse of removal. Very simple. Make sure your battery is disconnected before messing with the bags, even though the old one has already blown. Also, once you install the new one, I believe you'll have to go to the dealership to have the airbag light reset.

It also appears that i need to reset the sensor and the seatbelts locked in place. Is there anyway to reset these on my own or do I need to go to a shop for it?

If the seat belt tensioners/retractors fired and locked the seat belts, then you are going to have to replace them. I don't believe you can unlock them. Also, I believe the dealer has to reset the airbag light after it has been deployed.
