Anyone hollow out stock cats?

Has anyone done this? I've been thinking if 600 for hfc and 8hp are worth it and the cost hours of labor and noise level of headers are either. Maybe hollowing out the stock cats could be a good compromise. A cheap high flow cat would have to be added for inspection purposes just like with headers. Any thoughts?

i was killing myself when i made the thread that i couldnt remember the term "gut" i felt so retarded say "hollow out".

good thread was just wondering if any 6th gen guys here have on the NA cars for that extra power with a low cost since i should have all the tools needed. at most just getting a catco cat welded in my exhuast that i could switch out for a test pipe after inspection. also im thinking sound level shouldnt be nearly as loud as headers. guess i might just have to try this out

Sounds a bit difficult to remove/put back if it's welded in there.

was thinking to just have a flange welded on so it would be a bolt in situation. some of the cats im seeing tho seem like they will flow great jsut wondering if they would pass emissions. i didnt realize you can get high flow cats for like $60. figure between gaskets, high flow cat, and an exhuast shop for welding you are in for way less than $200 and better performance than hfc most likely
