A discussion regarding newer cars/older cars got me thinking into how is it that the VQ35 in the 6th gen puts out 265HP but the same thing in the 7th gen has 290HP or 300HP in the '06 350z. I'm a noob when it comes to the technical aspects of cars, but why is it that the same engines in those cars are more powerful? Were they just improved over time? And would it be possible to have that power in a stock 6th gen with something as simple as a tune without upgrading exhaust/intake/etc first?

I know it's probably not that simple but if Nissan could squeeze out 35-40HP more out of the VQ35DE in other cars I'd like to know how to do that in mine

So the 5.5 gen VQ was carried over into the 6th gen? And I'm guessing the Z's is completely different too as it's RWD and a dedicated sports car.

 

The VQ35s in the 5.5, 6th, and Zs, etc were the same until the "revup" and subsequent versions in the 2006+ (IIRC) Zs. Main differences in the non-revups were cam timing, intake manifolds, exhaust manifolds, orientation in the engine bay for RWD, etc. There were some threads years back discussing the differences that you might be able to search for, I think in the all-motor forum.

 

Rmt it! I know this isn't place to post but I can't anyways so ima get it off here...Can't believe there is only 1 turboed 6th gen. It's actually not going to be.difficult to build nor setup and run 5 psi. Ok I know everyone is gonna be like who the f is this. Ok I had a 98 gxe auto. I used to talk to the one guy with the fastest auto on spray. The maroon one. Jime was his name anybody correct me? I used to be on here can't remember my name. I had the zex wet 75 shot dyno at 276 hp and 290 trq ran 13.9 at muncie, this was years ago like (5) . Once I get started on this project I will post pics of old car n dyno #'s etc. Somebody contact me if interested in helping I have beemen550 already looking into this with me he has a 240sx Sr20 swap. 450hp.. he did all his work so we are capable of this. No rush but this will be done. I'm just looking at it like this. Car is almost paid off, I was gonna.trade in n get a E-55 or S-55 but f that another 4year loan etc.. I have evrything done to q point and I love my max. I figured by doing this I could private sell eventually and get more outta.then f ING up and getting another loan blah blah... I need info well plenty on here but be better if I could get blkmax or someone.with the Rmt to help me out a lil... Thx

 

^^ umm , who says there is just 1 ? I know of 2 other un-annouce 6th turbo maxima.
