Altima tranny in maxima?

Since the v6 altima's dont really have problems with the tranny will the tranny of those fit? Since they are 5 spd tiptronic and v6? And i would think they are cheaper too? Just something that crosses my mind...

damn good question.

most parts from the 02-06 altima fits the 04-08 maxima. the supension is the same and so is the motor along with the ebay header set so i am more inclined to belive the tranny should work. surpised i have just seen this question arise now after all these years of owning a maxima

You guys know the Altima is 4AT right? Just like how the 6th gens that don't have tranny problems are....

Only the SL came with a 5AT 05/06 and was an option for the SE-R.

And I know you guys are talking about the 5AT cause the 4AT is a solid transmission, if you're having problems with it than... You have problems

I have a 4 speed auto in my 04 SL... it's been replaced twice. I wouldn't say it's a solid transmission.

They. are. the. same.

RE5F22A Transmission
2004-05 9J500
Late '05 to 06 8Y100

The difference between the two 5ATs may be some solenoids and the final drive, I haven't played with changing the transmissions between computers, but we've already mix/matched transmission for these cars already, but only 8Y100s to 8Y100s, not like 9J5's to 8Y100

There's always one or two guys who are unfortunate, but you're in the minority, truuust me.

Yes, as aackshun says, you certainly belong to a minority with a bad 04 SL tranny. But then, how well/gentle do you treat your Max?

Doesn't matter, the 4AT is solid... until you do a 75 shot out the hole... from reported sourches
