04 max with p0550 and p1284

Had a weird ticking noise during acceleration for a few days. Couldn't locate the noise and after a few days it just went away Started up the max today and got the two codes. The 0550 is the high pressure steering switch. Should be pretty easy to replace right? What my issue is with the other code. The 1284 code is a/f sensor bank 2. Correct? What the heck is an a/f sensor? I have replaced both o2 sensors within the last year if that matters. I'm just not sure what this is since I have never heard of an a/f sensor.

I think I had that code on mine.. It's an air fuel sensor if I'm not mistaken and you have 2 if I'm not mistaken also.. Hated it because my ECM was locked by the stupid emmisions damn I wasted my time on it

There are two precats on our cars. Each precat has two sensors: one is located before the precat and the other after the precat. The sensor before the precat is the air fuel ratio sensor (A/F), while the sensor after the precat is the oxygen sensor. Of all the four sensors (that is, two on each precat) the A/F sensor bank 2 is the easiest to locate and reach: it's immediately behind the right-hand side (passenger side) radiator fan. Was that one of the sensors you replaced?

Ok

Well I had replaced both of the upper what I thought were o2 sensors. I did replace them with the Bosch universals. Think it may have gone bad? anyway to check them before I buy a new one? Also can someone let me know where the steering pressure switch is? Or even part numbers for both?

I'm not sure of a "steering pressure switch" or would you be referring to Power Steering Pressure (PSP) Sensor? If so the part number is 49763-6N20A. Check here:

It should be located behind the right front wheel, down below the atf reservoir.
For the A/F ratio sensor see

Thanks

Costee,
yes it is the power steering pressure sensor. On my scanner it says switch. apologies. Thanks for the diagrams. I'll check it out today. On a side note, anyone know how to remove the emergency brake handle? The nut that adjusts the brake stripped and I need to replace it. The nut is currently off. Do I need to take apart the whole center console??
