Someone asked me a question but I need expert advice to give them

Today one of my youtube viewers asked me about the car but seeing that I haven't had any major issues with my 04 max yet I was unable to provide them with a solution. So i'll ask the question on behalf of him and hopefully he can get his issue resolved. He asked

"I got an 05 maxima se and anytime I come across a road thats even a bit toad up my car starts moving uncontrollably and so does my steering wheel. Got the 18' or 19' stock rims. Anyone else get this problem or know why???

Mine does that too. I have an 08. I think it has to do with the sway bars.

"car starts moving uncontrollably"

If this happened and I had no idea what caused it, I would have it towed to a garage. Sounds like a major problem. All about fixing what I can but serious/safety issues need a pro.

Yeah sounds like something that any car would do if they ball joint, struts, control arms etc are worn out. It's an 05, 7years old, if he's never had it in the shop to get checked out there could be all kinds of normal maintenance issues going on.

This doesn't sound like something that "Maximas" normally do.

I have experienced this...

with my 2004SE when it was relatively brand new. One time turning onto a road under construction (the surface was uneven, part newly-paved), my car was "out-of-my-control". It felt like the front-end was falling apart. The car then drove perfectly fine after that turn. I could see some of those effects when slowing down at an intersection then suddenly change lane, the steering wheel would feel very funny.
I'm not 100% sure what it is, but my guess is VDC taking over !!??!! By the way, I have stock rims.
Worst events: (I had seen this twice) drive relatively fast (30-40MPH) ... about to miss the driveway... brake hard and turn right sharply into the driveway..
there is a series of loud metal banging sounds from the front end. Again probably VDC/ABS kicking in.
Come to think about all of this, I've never actually in any danger. So I guess it is a good design (not so sure about those disturbing sound).

My best guess is he has bad ball joints or lose struts. if its the struts he would hear some pretty nasty sounds, especially over bumpy roads. the only thing that i can think of is he has a bad differential or possibly the steering rack is incredibly lose. maybe a rim is lose and is close to sheering off his bolts.. it could be a lot of things, but most of it should be accompanying loud sounds. i doubt it is his ABS since that is a pretty tell tale feel/sound and you need to be applying brakes for them to engage.

honestly with something like that, he should not be seeking advice from anyone other than a repair shop, so if i were you i wouldn't give any. with something like that, to keep driving in that condition is dangerous to him and others on the road. Has he ever seen a car snap a ball joint on the freeway or in a turn? it does NOT turn out very pretty and is deadly dangerous. tell him the possibility that something is loose and very close to failing with catastrophic results is highly likely and if he keeps driving that car, everyday he is playing Russian roulette

Could it be arms, or joints?

Yeah I assumed there is some free play in the joints or the control arm.I just don't want to assume or it could be an imbalance in the rims.Dunno
