Just had timing chains & guides replaced by the dealership last week..primary & secondary ones. How could that not have diagnosed this problem b4 they gave the car back to me?

What exactly needs to be re done? I went back to the dealership today and they told me I just needed to replace the sensor and get an oil changed....all they did was hook up the CPU and run the monitors to check if the cams were lined up correctly, which they were...I guess since I already have the sensor I'm gonna put it in but if something is still giving me issues I'm going right back and demanding they re-do the job.

If they hooked up consult and said the cams are fine, then its either the camshaft sensor or the VTC solenoid.

Ok..is there a DIY write up on how to replace the bank 2 sensor? I know it's on the cylinder head closest to the radiator..I did the bank 1 b4 with no issues so this shouldn't be any harder

Its quite simple, just remove one 10mm bolt holding the sensor, unhook the harness and pull it out.
Rinse and repeat. To test the VTC solenoid, measure the resistance between the two terminals of the VTC solenoid. You should be getting 7-7.5 ohms on a cold engine with ambient temp @ 20C If you get abnormal readings more by .5 ohms, you got a problem.

Changing the solenoid or sensor wont fix it.
They'll eventually need to re-do the job if an oil change doesnt get rid of the code.

Update: I'm getting a grinding noise coming from the timing chain area. Very unusual sound. you can hear in the the cabin if all components are off. Calling the dealership and telling them to re do it

I have the same problem on my SL 04. I changed the Camshaft Position Sensor, but the symptoms are the same (not as frequent, though). Do you mind telling me how much you paid for the timing chains & guides replacement? Thanks!
