Solution to steering wheel Shimmy.
Solution to steering wheel Shimmy.
Hey Guy's, I had the shimmy for a while I went to Discount tire and got a road force balance it cost me $108. I also replaced all four tires and it solved the problem. For those of you having this problem I tried this and it worked, it seems that the problem is narrowed down to the tires and being properly balanced. Tire Size, and pressure has alot to do with it too. Shimmy issues seem to be a problem on other vehicles and sedans as well its not just the Maxima.
Funny you posted, I put back on my 20's with summer tire and i had a serious vibration, tires even balance out. Well I too it today for a roadforce balance, found out on rim was slightly bent but they were able to balance it out. I just did the front tires because its a staggered set up. Anyways, long story short, The Roadforce helped, no more shimmy (it was very bad) drove home and its still there but barely, and thats because of the slightly bent rim.
Will only do roadforce balance from now on
Will only do roadforce balance from now on
One of my 22s is bent just a little bit, and they did a road force balance yesterday. The mechanic at Discount tire went on a test drive after the work was done. He couldnt believe how smooth the ride was. Even before the rims I was getting that shimmy with the stock 17s and now its completely gone. With the rim bent even a little it has no affect on ride quality its still smooth. I noticed the vibrations decreased and ride quality got even better when I upgraded the wheels.
