Clunking - front right

Clunking - front right
For the past few months, I've had a deep, hard knocking noise in the front right, which was stronger and repetitive on hard right turns at slow speed.
I just had one of my engine mounts replaced - my mechanic said all 4 mounts were worn, but the back right was the worst.
$1200 later, and there's a different noise, now over every bump and every turn, going forward and back. My mechanic says it's the steering rack - apparently, it's quite loose when up on the rack. It will cost me $800 to replace the rack, which supports the whole steering assembly and ties into the suspension.
Last fall, I had some tie rods replaced - another $1000. That's $3000 in less than 6 months -- am I solving a problem, or just letting myself in for more cost outlays?
This is ridiculous! Yes, I drive country roads near Peterborough, but it's not like I'm in the mud or off-roading! Are Maxima suspensions that finnicky and only meant for smooth highways? The suspension problems are so common on various posts, you'd think there'd be a warning with these cars...
I have 170,000 km on the car - I shouldn't be having these problems! Is it time to give up, sell the car, and never buy another Nissan?
