Rust :(

I'm starting to notice quite a bit of rust cropping up on my 2006 Maxima. It looks to be pretty superficial as it will almost appear to wipe away with a damp cloth. I've really started to notice a lot of it around the area where the front clip/fascia is connected to the body of the car. Is there any product that is available that is effective at removing surface rust?

good old DW40

or you could get real serious and get some Naval jelly. Heavy duty rust neutralizer there.

I was shocked to see the amount of rust that seemingly appeared over a very short period of time. I washed it a few weeks ago and saw none.

you might want to remove that nameplate - lift the carpet and look underneath. also look under the footwells area underneath the car. If you see yellow rust stains..then you have a bigger issue. i sold my 04 maxima for similar reasons... both the footwells were severely rusted - cause - water leaking from pipes in a pillar (frm sunroof down to floor). there was a post a long time back by light on hill about this.
