Buying used motor

I'm in a jam and my motor is about to blow. I am looking for a replacement motor and found one on ebay which is about 1 hours drive from my location now. The question is that its at a steal of $550.00 with 87,000 but has a cracked timing cover in which I will have to use mine. The car was involved in a front end accident. Is this a good deal or should I stay away from it?

Honestly I just need the motor for less than 10,000 miles before i do a full rebuild. I am just looking to get a working motor for my cross counrty move to California before i purchase another motor for a full race build.

Whats the likely hood of it having major internal damage?

What's wrong with your current one?
And also I wouldn't chance it buying that one. You won't know if its messed up until you can pull it apart or run it. For a straight quick drop in I'd keep looking.

as long as there's warranty i would go for it but than again knowing something was damaged like the timing cover would have me paranoid low key about future problems possibly but eh its only $550 LOL GO FOR IT

P.S. so your business is coming with you to Cali or wha? What part of Cali you coming to Northern, Southern, Central?

Sweet. GL on the move and I will be purchasing a set of thermal spacers from you soon, as I already have the BOP's.

it all depends on the damage. If the damage was just to the outside cover then I would say thats a great deal but if the cams or other timing components got damaged then i'd say better pass it on as it might have more hidden damage.

I have installed a number of motors out of front end wrecks, I only had one engine that turned out to be toast but it was a subaru 2.5 motor that had timing sprockets damaged that I decided to take a chance on but it did not work out well and needed to be replaced.

The plan of action is that i need to have a motor running in my car by the 12th of next month so I can pick up my little brother from VA who flew in to see his cousin. If this is possible then I will be traveling west across the upper states going west. We also said why not see the grand canyon while were at it lol. Its a long drive anyway right lol

I also have an altima se-r motor with a car fax of 46k on it for $900.00 waiting for me to inspect on monday but $550 sounds better than $900.00 lol
