Timing chain repair.... Coolant leak??

I finally decided to get my timing chain fixed. The shop charged me 1486.36 to repair it. Engine runs so quiet I cant even tell its running. Half way to the house which i live less than 10 miles from the shop my check engine light popped on, when i got my vehicle home i looked under the vehicle and there was coolant pooring out from the bottom of the car. Also all the plastic pieces under the vehicle were not attached. I am so mad i cant stand it. I called the shop who repaired my vehicle and they told me that they didnt touch the radiater or coolant. I called b.s. becuase i didnt have a coolant leek before i took it in. And also told them that bottom plastic piece in my car was dragging. You figure after paying that much for a repair they would at least take it for a test drive and make sure everything was functioning the way it needed to. I know have to pay again to get my damn car towed back to the shop so they can look at it.

The water pump is in there with the timing chain. They very well could have damaged a seal or coolant line.

Kofi, for one, your got screwed... More than likely only your tensioner was bad.. Which is a 3 Hour DIY job, and only a couple bolts and like a 75$ part... For seconds, its their fault dont let them tell you otherwise.. And please for the love of god dont let them make you pay for anything further.

Oh, and something thats concerning, was the coolant pouring from the Timing Chain Cover? Cause if thats the case, your engine is basically shot.. Considering the awesome mixture of Oil and Coolant thats sloshing around and steaming up your crank case..

If this is a 3 hr DIY job, I would love to hear it. I was under the impression this is 12-14 hrs of shop time.

If you change the primary tensioner it can be done fairly quickly ( couple of hours ) but I really doubt about the timing chain .

timing chain and tensioners is a big job, some guys spend close to 20 hours on this job. Personally, I drop the engine to do this job, it is a real pain.

FallenOne is refering to the tensioner itself, which could be replaced without having to take the side cover off since there is an access panel to get to it.

OP, sounds like the coolant line that goes to the oil cooler line has rusted through and is leaking coolant or maybe the shop forgot to clamp down a coolant hose, either way, they should have tested everything before giving you the car. Call them and see if that have their own tow truck. Do not drive the car without coolant as that can cause some serious damage to the engine.

Good luck.
