Dash kits??

My 04 has what I think is ugly fake wood looking trim around the, door handles, center console, etc..... is that stuff just stuck on and is it easy to take off and replace?

You just answered your question. You'll find out how hard it is to come off when you attempt to take it off...

Damn, I would've traded you my aluminum trim but I already replaced mine with the wood. The doors, shifter plate, and e-brake pull right off. The cup holder takes a lot more work, you have to actually remove the whole center console which involves removing the glove compartment and the bottom driver and passenger dash panels. It seems hard, but it's just a bit of work.

Nah you wouldve traded me....the previous owner didnt take good care of the trim. It has some pieces have cracks in them.

I am thinking of going with a brushed metal looking trim. Found a kit for around $150.

I also may change the grill. Anyone know any good sites for max upgrades?

I would search on eBay for the replacement trim, it might take a while to get all the parts but it'll be better than using those stick-on dash kits. I know I've seen every one of those parts on there (each door piece, shift plate, e-brake, and cup holder), although it sounds like you have an 04 SL which I believe is the only model that was available with the 4-speed automatic, in which case there won't be an OEM brushed aluminum shift plate, but maybe some parts of the plates are swappable.

I have like 4 different grilles, mostly bought from eBay. I have both E&G grilles, a Trenz grille, and the horrible C-Mod grille (C-Mod blows). There really isn't a centralized place for our parts, just gotta search around.

Yeah it the 4 speed auto/ tip-tronic trans.

I think whats in the car now trim wise is that crappy stick on trim. It looks as if it will peel off.
Thanks for all the tips and info

If you have more wood trim than this, then yeah it's the stick on dash kit. I have seen on ebay "factory match" wood grain dash kits...

You definitely have the stick on dash kit then, and yeah it sounds like it'd be too much. But you said you had a 4-speed automatic, which should only come with the SL model, which should also mean that you have these same wood trim panels in addition to the crappy dash kit. Maybe these parts don't have the dash kit on them, or maybe they're under the dash kit. Your dash, center console, and doors should pretty much look like mine, so any wood trim in excess of mine is stick on and should peel off (a hair dryer might help).

And thanks for the compliment, I need to work on the interior a little more.

Yeah the trim in mine is on the door handles were u open the door not where u pull it closed, also mine doesnt have it by the e-brake or where the cup holders are.

I have it in the shop having everything looked over and two tires being changed out. When I get it back Ill post a pic of the interior here.

That looks like SE model trim with a stick on dash kit, and it looks like you have a 5-speed automatic. The 4-speed automatic has a different shift plate. This is what the 04 SL interior should look like, I believe you have an 04 SE.

I may be wrong on the 4 speed. It is an SL though. It has 3.5 SL on the trunk lid and the center console goes through to the rear making it only a four seater. The car is loaded from Navi to seat memory, heated steering wheel..etc.....

Ah, that explains why you have an SL with the brushed aluminum trim. For some reason I don't believe they made any Elite Package Maximas with wood trim, probably because they didn't want to make wood trim for the rear center console since not that many were sold.

The Elite Package adds the reclining bucket seats and center console in the back. It pretty much turns the 5-seat Maxima into a 4-seater. There are other goodies too, but that's the major difference. Lucky you, I'd love to have the Elite Package.

Actually, sorry, I might have been thinking about an Infiniti Q45 with reclining rear seats. The Maximas are just heated. But it's still a cool Package to have, and yeah that sounds like a pretty good price for it.
