Blower Motor Resistor a.k.a. Module Assy-Power

I have a 2004 Maxima SL with the digital environment controls. The blower motor isn't blowing. I've checked the fuses and they are all fine, so from what I've read it sounds like the problem is probably with the Blower Motor Resistor. I pretzeled myself and got the thing out.

A couple of questions. First, is there any way I can test the thing to see if it does need replacing?

Second, if I do buy a new one, which one do I get??? Doing a search gets me lots of different part numbers, many of which don't even have photos. I've seen RU-355, RU-365, RU633, 20277, 20127, 20287, JA1418, 27761, W0133-1847937, etc, etc. Prices range from $35 to $120.

Thanks for any assist!

I know this isn't super helpful, but I had the same problem about 2 years ago and I just had my shop fix it (I have a hard time pretzeling myself in such cases). They did hand me the bad part afterwards though and asked if I wanted it (of course I said "No"...), but from what I recall it does NOT look 100% like the photos posted in the OP. It was similar, but from what I recall, instead of the white plastic portions it was just a cast metal housing with a cast metal plate sealed to it (instead of the white plastic portion) with some wide terminals exposed.

However, maybe they just replaced all but the white plastic bits? I'm not sure. I *think* I ended up paying the shop ~$75 for the part, plus some labor.

Sorry I couldn't have been more help, but that's all I remember.

I have the same problem right now. When buying a a/c blower resistor, do I buy one with automatic climate control?

Replacing the resistor/module worked for me. FYI, the OEM PN is 277612Y000. This is for the auto climate control. $70 from rockauto.com

If it smells like burnt electronics, its definately time to replace it. Had the same issue last year. The blower just stopped working one day. Replaced this and it was fine.
