New Tranny for my 2005 Maxima

I have a 2005 Nissan Maxima SL, and I have been experiencing the common slipping issues when I switch gears. I contacted Nissan USA for them to repair under their Goodwill clause to no avail. Does anyone know where I can get a transmission for cheap and or how I can be included in the pending class action lawsuit against Nissan. My Maxima has 105K miles.

Thanks for all your help!

That sucks man but trying to fight Nissan is gonna be a waste. Is it a 5spd or 4spd? Trying to find a cheap transmission is going to be hard especially seeing that the 5spd are common for transmission. Try to find someone who can rebuild it properly instead of finding a cheap one that might possibly have the same issue, you're basically gonna be right back where you left off. Good luck man

Jason pretty much nailed it. Find a salvage 5sp with warranty for cheap if you plan to keep the car for a short time or get a professional rebuild if you plan to run the car to its last mile.

But as is now well known, the culprit in these matters is the valve body and not the tranny per se. I'll advise the OP to have the car scanned, and possibly be ready to have the valve body replaced. If you have a 2005 SL it is definitely 5speed.
