Quick light question

I will be replacing my still functioning but aged HID bulbs in my 2004. i am going with a set of Morimotos. my question is this...the site I will order them from gives a lot of information but not quite enough for a guy who is not as car savvy as many of you guys, so, are the stock ballasts in an '04 35 or 55 watt capacity? They suggest mating the same watt bulb and ballast for optimal efficiency although they can pair up otherwise. I also wanted to ask, and i am sure i am overlooking it somewhere, what the bulb size is because i cannot remember. any help is welcome. Thanks gents.

Yeah, those 55w bulbs are for Baja racing. Use those on the streets and you'll get high-beam flashed to death and eventually pulled over by the police.

Well, dudes get pulled over all the time where I live for having 35w HIDs in reflectors....especially Ford 150s. If you were running 55w in projectors, and those projectors are not dialed in, then I would say you would have a good chance for being pulled over for safety concerns by the police.

It could well be very different where you live, but if I was running 4300 55w bulbs in my car, and I run projectors, I would be high-beam flashed to death. There isn't a flat piece of road in my town, so you are constantly, with the car moving with the undulating nature of the road, flashing people. That said, I could see how one could run 55w bulbs with no problems at all if their lights were dialed in, and they lived in a city that had primarily level roads.

I appreciate your thoughts on this, Terrentius. I ordered the 4300 35W to match up with the stock 35W ballasts. i figured i would try to do it as right as possible.

DUH!

HID's in a reflector based housing = MASSIVE amounts of glare

HID'S in projectors = little to no glare

Finally pulled the bumper cover and installed the 4300, 35W Morimoto bulbs. They are way more hefty looking bulbs than the stock Osram bulbs I replaced. So far, so good. better light although I wish I had the know how to correct my light pattern and aim the lights better. I also took time to polish the lens covers again and plan to do a little more one of these weekends. I also installed an aluminum billet grille to replace the big ugly. Overall, it looks much better, and I am happy with the bulb switch.
