Help finding A/C leak

The a/c has gone out in my '07, it went out within 50 miles of my warranty expiring, lovely. I have used dye to find the leak but do not see any trace on the exterior lines, compressor fittings or what I can see of the front mounted condenser coil. I fear it is in the dash with the evaporator core and requires taking the entire dash apart. I would like to know that is the case before doing it or taking it to a shop. I have kids and the heat is already here so need to get this fixed rather fast. Would I not smell the refrigerant leaking if it was inside the vehicle? Thanks.

Well, before you go so deep check the shaft seal of the compressor-- a silent culprit of leakage because it's too tucked away to be seen.

I assume you did, but will ask just to verify, you had it recharged when the dye was added, correct?

Yes, I used the dye that is already added to refrigerant. It was blowing cold when I was done, but did not see any dye on the exterior other than the two ports.

I will try to check the compressor shaft area but like you say hard as hell to see. A compressor or exterior lines I can do myself easily, well, easier than a dash pull.
