Need help with this strange problem

First of all I'd like to say that I'm new and I really like this Forum about this car, I've had it for about 4-5 years and I'm pretty happy with it.

My problem is this:
Yesterday I was just driving my Maxima SE 2004 around town and stopped for some Coke and chips, when i was getting there the gas pedal stopped doing it's work and the car just kept moving at a slow speed (Just like when you shift to D and the car walks by itself), I thought this would be fixed if I turned it off and I did, when I came back and tried to turn it on it didn't want to turn on, I was low on gas so I went for some gas, refuelled it and tried to turn on, no luck.

It sounded like the battery was dead but the Stereo and Headlights would turn on so I got someone to help me with the battery (we connected his battery to mine) and the car did turn on, Headlights were dead (The right one was blinking then it turned off, the other one did the same), central monitor was still on, car kept going (at D velocity, as the car didn't want to rev up) for a Kilometer or so then turned off again, did the same thing to turn it on again and kept going until I got to my house. Sometimes the car gets stuck in P and won't shift, just happened once before getting to my house.

Thanks for reading, if someone could tell me what's wrong I'd be very thankful (sorry for my bad english).

Try running a scan on the car. It could be the camshaft or the crankshaft sensors. Keep an eye also on your alternator or battery.

I had the same issue but I was in a parkway, lucky I was near the exit side. But most likely it's your sensors. If you place the computer on it to read the codes it will tell you which pieces you need. I suggest changing both sensors because when one goes out usually the next one goes out as well
