alternator needs replacing? instructions?

Hello, this morning my maxima hesitantly started up. The brake and battery lights blinked for a bit then stopped so I didnt think nothing of it. Then about 2 mi down the road, the car just stopped. The car was on but it did not want to go anywhere. I put the car in park then back into drive and it did not want to move. Then I turned yhe car off, then it hesitantly turned back on again, then I was able to drive it back home. I have read the the brake and battery lights coming on together is a sign of a bad alternator. I have an optima battery hooked up to it. Any advice would be great, and if you have any info on replacing the alternator too.

9 times out of 10 w/ the battery and brake light on @ the same time, it usually means the alternator output isn't on parr. 6th gen Maximas have the subframe, so getting the alternator out requires a bit more work.

From my personal experience, it looks like you have 2 options.. Either remove it through the top (requires you to remove radiator) or remove it from the bottom (requires you to remove a/c compressor, so evacuate & recharge of a/c system will be necesary). Having done it both ways, i still prefer removing the alternator from the bottom, but I can see how this can be a challenge if you're doing this job @ the house/in the driveway.

Hope this helps.

Thanks I did a lil research and it seems it is most likely the alternator. I do have an aftermarket deck with nav and backup camera, and also a jlaudio 750w amp with a 12w7 so im thinking maybe my alt cant keep up with it.
