AC Help
Hello,
I'm new here so please inform me if I am breaking any forum rules.
I have done extensive searching and troubleshooting before asking this...
My AC is not blowing cold air.
Please read everything I've tried before responding.
When I turn on the AC I hear a sound almost like a hiss. The sound appears to come from dead center behind the radio. However this may be inaccurate as the vent does echo the sound. When I put my ear up to the vents I hear the sound amplified. I want to say I can faintly hear the sound from the engine bay directly behind the engine against the firewall.
The air is not cold, but is not hot just warm.
I read 40PSI
Compressor does kick in
Blower fan works
I have completely disassembled the dash, underside of steering column, center console/radio, glovebox.
I have entered the "secret" diagnostic code, hold drivers side heat down 5seconds, and tested all aspects. No error codes exist.
I put my finger on the heater core, I wont be doing that again =)
It sounds like a hose leak or vacuum. Maybe something is not flipping a switch to direct cool air.
Since it has been winter we are not sure when this issue started.
I did however come to the conclusion the dealership might be the cause, so I want to avoid taking it back to the them.
Last year I had the belt and roller bearing replaced, before warranty was up.
If anyone could be of assistance or has any ideas please LMK, Thanks!
PS: Does everyone have to answer the AD question to do anything?

It's alright, our cars have this problem quite a bit. Your lower A/C hose has a leak. It is not physically low in the car. It is the one running along the left passenger side of the engine. It is the obvious hose next to the engine cover. I had a stealership replace for $150. If you are comfortable doing it yourself it is no big deal either. It's a small repair but you shouldn't have to worry about it again. You will need to recharge the A/C system after the repair though.
Even if I have no leaks and AC reads high PSI at 40 can you still say confidently this is my issue?
I will look into it tonight none the less.
Thanks!
I'm more than confident. I heard the same hiss. It is sooo subtle that if you had a stranger in your car and you said, "do you hear that?", they would say no. Just a joke but it is soooo quiet. My air was blowing barely cold air for sooo many weeks during the hot summer that I said screw it and took it in. The technician said this happens sooo much with these cars and he diagnosed it immediately and just replaced it and all has been well since. Everything you wrote up in this thread was exactly what my symptoms were. Nothing more, nothing less. I have not seen a thread on how to replace it, but if you visually look at the hose, it doesn't seem hard. You may need certain tools. I only know it took the mechanic to give me the car back an hour later.
