6 Speed Question

Hi All:

It's been a while, but I'm back! Unfortuantely for the wrong reason, though

I have a question related to the clutch/pressure plate/slave/master cylinder:

5/23 – driving home in heavy traffic. Stop and go. Car operated as it should have. I got home, attempted to throw my car (6 speed manual) into reverse, but couldn’t get it to go. Tried to throw it into 1st gear, wouldn’t go. Struggled with it, finally got it into reverse. Turned car off, went inside. There were no signs of a clutch issue (slipping, etc) prior to this day, so I don’t know what to think.
Went back out about an hour later to check the Master cylinder (think this was a problem before with the car, replaced either that or slave cylinder due to leak). Master was loaded with fluid.
5/24 – had surgery on my foot. Cast for 5 weeks. Father tried to put the car into 1st-Reverse. Car wouldn’t go into any. Clutch pedal wouldn’t spring up. Loosely hanging at the floor level.
5/27 – father-in-law attempted same with same results. Clutch pedal wouldn’t spring up.
Last night – Wife tested clutch pedal. Slowly started to spring upward after each depression of the clutch pedal. Started car, put in 1st-Reverse successfully SEVERAL times.

Question is:

What the heck is going on here?

I had a similiar issue. What I would recommend is to try to first flush the hydraulic lines. Try amsoil brake fluid. If the problem persists, change the clutch master.

Thanks, benjie! I'll give that a shot. Clutch master, if the problem, would **** me off! 1-1/2 years old.

In the upside the clutch master is fairly inexpensive, same with the slave cylinder. Depending on the mileage you may concider replacing both and the rubber line with a s's clutch line. Both cylinders cost me 70, and 40 for the ss clutch line. Not much more work since you're bleeding the whole system anyways.
