2004 Brakes

Firestone informed me that a Brake Fluid Flush was needed because too much copper was in the brake system (Never heard that before)
I said i would get back to them later .
Now every time i put my foot on the brake petal i get a ticking sound. It comes and goes.
Are the two things related?
I need advice on the brake fluid flush and the ticking sound from touching the brake petal.
Thanks for this forum.

Never heard of the copper in brake fluid but the fluid flush is easy. Not sure if your familiar with bleeding the brakes but its pretty much the same method. As for as the ticking sound goes, that could be your ABS system working IF you were braking hard.

did firestone work on your brakes?

maybe the brake shims are touching the rims.

Not sure about copper in the fluid but its not a bad idea to flush the fluid every few years.

copper in fluid is bs. why not orange juice? wtf.

flushing is not a bad idea anyway (change the whole fluid). Do it yourself, it's easy and it will cost you 2-3 bottles of brake fluid... how much do they ask for it? I hope that at least they will do the job they charge for.

noise is probably shims or anti rattle clips or wear indicators.

Clicking sound could also be the shift interlock with transmission. Check to see if its happening all the time or only when the car is at low speeds. Mine has started doing this too but not sure why.

The clicking sound only happens at low speed. The sound started at the rear left passengers side and now seemed to have moved up to the drivers side door.
Strange.

ticking is probably shims or wear indicator. Clean your brakes and see.
As for the copper in brake fluid, might as well give them 100$ and ask them to do nothing

I bet they bid on the fact that they could actually get a customer to pay for a flush with that bs explanation, and you are going to make someone win their bet because you are going to be the dumb customer that gets ripped off, grats.
