Car wont start.

Hi everyone.

I have a problem with my 2006 maxima, one day I started the car as I drove of the car stall... I tried to restart but with no avail, the engine cranks but nothing else happens.

note: no Error code detected yet. ( I ran a code reader but nothing was displayed)

Triage:

I tried to verified if any fuel would come out the fuel line, I did this by pressing the pin inside the pressure valve connector, but no signs of fuel..

I removed the air intake and added few drops of fuel, engine started for a few seconds and died.

I checked The Fuel Pump which made a sound for a few seconds every time the key was turned. I believe this is normal. since I replace the fuel pump assembly with a new one and still makes the exact same sound.

I inspected the relay but didn't fine any physical damage, I swapped the replay with what appear to be an identical one, but nothing.

ran scanner again and found codes p0300 p0113 p0102.

can anyone help me please??

Clean your MAF sensor located inside your intake. This can be bought at Autozone for about $9. Whatever you do, do not touch the butterfly valve for your intake. I would also consider having your fuel system cleaned out. They make additives for it and some shops will clean them as well. Also might want to consider using a high quality octane gas like chevron.

I can not this enough.

I had the bright idea to clean my throttle body. On my 4th gen, this was an easy, harmless procedure so I figured why not?? Worst idea ever. End result was surging idle, car was accelerating on its own. Ultimately, due to that and a couple of other problems, I ended up trading in the car. The idle thing was just the icing on the cake. RIP my 6th gen.

Listen to po8pimp's advice!!!

Well gentlemen is been almost a month since i have this issue.. I used the advised products and even received mechanics advice. one guy stated that there may be a problem with the water pump" or something physically creating excessive "hold pressure" he wanted to bring down the engine and manually rotate the water pump and maybe inspect other rotating gears connected to the timing chain. never mention any relevant error codes reported or anything.

so to get to the meat of this I and hoping to get a better understanding of the codes I am getting now.

1.P2101 Throttle Actuator control motor circuit range /performance.
2.P2101 Throttle Actuator control motor circuit range /performance.
3.P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow circuit low input
4.P0113 Intake air temperature sensor 1 circuit high
5P0123 Throttle/pedal position sensor /switch a circuit high
6 P0300 random/multiple cylinder misfire detected
7 P1615 Unknow DTC

the unknown DTC detected pertains to a NVIS Difference of Key

Possible causes
- Faulty or not programmed ignition key
- Faulty IMMU
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

I am in the process of following this steps " If the problem occurs try disconnecting the car battery for about 30 minutes and then try starting the engine with a known registered key. If the problem persist you have to have the dealer erase the code and reprogram the keys again."

my question?????? is do I really have to let the dealer erase the code and reprogram the keys again?? or is this something i can do my self?? and what is a IMMU??

also does anyone have a service Manual????

any comment is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Not sure about all those other codes but...

P1615 = system recognizes unregistered key + will not start car (not necessarily an unregistered key, could be fault in the IMMU or elsewhere like BCU/ECU/Amp/etc...)

NVIS IMMU = the chip (which is likely malfunctioning)

Unfortunately you have to visit dealership/have them reprogram. Not possible to do yourself w/o Consult II and software. Make sure you give them all your keys to be reprogrammed.

You will always have problems starting the car until NVIS is fixed, if security light is on solid you know it's a problem with NVIS.

FSM = http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Maxima/2006_Maxima/

Look for BL-101 in FSM for the NVIS stuff. BTW, if you have another key you could try that and see if the other key works (may not matter because system goes into lock mode after 5 or so tries to start car IIRC)

Security light is solid

OK guys just want to make sure this is an issue pertaining NVIS (NISSAN VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM.

If I insert the key and turn the ignition, the car wont start. security light is not on. the only lights I see while the key is still in the ignition are the brake light, check engine, seat belt, and passenger airbag light (which is right next to the security light "not on")

my question Is, when is the light suppose to appear solid?

light is only solid when I turn the car off, lock the doors.

is that the way its suppose to be?

thanks...

the final out come

Well didn't want to leave this without finally giving the conclusion to the out come.

I ended up taking my car to the dealer, after a few days they stated that some how water had got in the gas tank.

to make a long story short, I called my insurance and they were able to cover the loses.

they replaced the fuel pump, fuel injector, fuel line, total cost over 3000 dollars..

Water in the fuel tank, would mean water had to get there. Not possible with the parts replaced. Why didn't they change out the tank or inspect for a crack in it. Other possibility is the fuel cap not being tightened and water getting in that way. I would do a seafoam of the car to get rid of all the water that got in there. Chernmax did a youtube video on how to accomplish this. At least you where covered by insurance. Good to see you are back on the road.

I pushed the valve with my finger out of curiosity after changing my spark plugs.
My car is running all sorts of codes (p0113 p0300 p1217 p0223) since. Would that be a cause?
