I have a 04 Se and after changing the oil and adding 4 qt and 1 cup plus a new filter the oil barely shows in the safe area of the dipstick. I have done this on two oil changes now. I am wondering if someone has installed the wrong dipstick. Could anyone out there measure theirs? Just the metal's length from below the plastic handle. I bought the car from my daughter and she'd owned it since about 06. No signs of motor replacement or accident.

 

4 liters usually for an oil change.
let engine sit for 30 min, level surface, remove dipstick, wipe, put back, remove, look.
4 quarts +1 cup, still barely minimum, there is something weird.

 

I have an 2007 M35 manual states 5 quarts with new filter. When I had my 04 Max I always put 5 quarts of oil with new filter... +1 cup what the hell is that

 

The 1 cup is to fill the new, empty oil filter.

 

When I used the thimble too small stock filter mine took a little over 4 quarts and was fine. Very weird. Let it sit overnight on level surface and check again.
