False check engine light/iac sensor

I was having problems starting my 04 max with 108xxx miles so I unhooked my battery to clean the corrosion. When I was done cleaning corrosion the starting problem was fixed but I noticed a bad idle . So I did some researching and someone said to unplug my idle control sensor / valve then start my car then start it with it plugged in to reset it . It actually fixed the idle ! But now I have a check engine light on . So I went to my local parts store and they said it read a code that said my sensor was bad . They cleared it for me and it came back a day later . I'm confused now because my car idles fine and has no issues whatsoever and still says bad sensor with check engine light on . I don't want to buy a new sensor if I don't need one ... Idk what to do ???

First what code did you get? Second, make sure that you reconnected the IAC correctly. Third have you performed the Idle Air Relearn Procedure yet? If not and after checking the connection, perform the Idle Air Relearn Procedure posted here: http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/f-q...procedure.html
