My wife has a 04 maxima that wont accelerate in gear. Park and neutral it will rev fine but when you put it in gear it wont get over 800rpm which will barely make it move. Every now and then it'll kick and and it'll run fine but only for a few seconds. The brake light and battery light came on the dash the other day. Besides that there are no other lights on. Dont know where to start with this one so any info will be appreciated.

 

Sounds like a bad MAF sensor, the Mass air flow sensor its located in the intake tube by filter.


Also if Battery light came on you Differently have a charging system problem, Alternator probably is out and causing all the issues.

 

yea after doing some quick searching is seems that the alternator is a good place to start since the battery light is on
