Rack and pinion loose after transmission change

I have an 04 maxima I just had transmission replaced in. It sat for about a year before change. When I picked it up the said it had a leak. It's not a daily driver so I thought no big deal I'll get that fixed. It leaks all fluid in about 2 days and come to find out the rack is VERY loose. I was wondering if something just wasn't put back right or if that even has anything to do with it.

i believe on 6th gens when you change the trans the subframe has to be removed or at least dropped down a bit, that usually involves unbolting the rack and hanging it. however leaking is due to bad seals in the rack and pinion so i would say its unrelated, your rack just went bad

rack and pinion is pretty cheap, just replace it vice fixing the seals. Obviously if that is the problem. If the shop didn't put it back correctly, then make them replace it.

getting checked at the shop, if its loose, that is very dangerous.
