07 Transmission problems

When I drive my car hard on the interstate and i get off coming to a stop the engine stays reved up to 2500 for about 3 seconds. I also smell transmission fluid. I brought it to AAMCO for the free inspection and they said they couldnt find a problem with the transmission. They said it runs good. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

why do you think you have transmission problems? have you driven a CVT before? it takes some getting used to.

might be the Camshaft Position Sensor going out. This can cause engine flare. They are known to go bad on these cars.

I thought it was a transmission problem because when the engine gets hot while im driving 80 + on the interstate when I try to go faster the car has no response. It stays at the same speed. When I get home and the car cools down for about an hour and I drive it again it drives fine.

Does the RPM go up when you accelerate but the car stays the same speed?

This just happened to me for the first time today. I pulled to 4k rpms to make a pass and it took a few seconds after I released the pedal to go back to around 2k. Is there a problem or is that just the CVT?

Never tested a cvt. But on 04-06 when it gets stuck on 5th gear, it is the cam sensor. Maybe change both, bank 1 &2?

My 07 has done this since I can remember, does not stay as high as 2500rpm maybe just under 2k once I come to a complete stop it drops to 500rpm. It has 164000 on it now and still drives fine. CVT fluid has been changed twice first at around 80k and again at about 150k

The camshaft position sensors are what measure where your cam is at and send that signal to the tachometer and the TCM to tell the transmission where it thinks you are at. When they get hot, they expand/warp and allow oil inside. Which if it was just oil alone, would probably not be bad, however since there is a bit of fuel mixed in causes issues. You can pull them out and see if they look cracked along the seam. If they are, then replace them. Easy to replace even for the novice mechanic.

The RPMs stay the same.

I will check the camshaft position sensor.....as soon as I locate it. In other words does anyone know where it is located?
