4at to 5at swap

I have looked everywhere and cannot find any good information about doing a 4at to 5at transmission swap in an early 2004 model. I know that the 4 speeds are a more reliable transmission but I have had a few issues with it and am currently about to have to do my second rebuild because the first time it was done they never serviced or replaced my valve body which has recently started slam shifting and is now causing damage to my clutches and bands. So with all that said I am also a paraplegic who loves driving and having total control which I cannot have with this long geared beast. I would be using a fully built transmission from Level 10(also open to othe suggestions)so I am not worried about the reliability of the 5at I just need to know if it is possible and if so what is needed to make it a successful install. Thanks and I appreciate any and all input

cant help, but it might be more cost effective to sell the car and get a more recent one with the new transmission already in.

Is it worth all this trouble on a 2004 maxima? Not cost-wise.

I understand where you are coming from on the cost aspect but I love my car and have waaaay too much invested to make selling it any kind if option. Just want to make the car into the well built machine it should have been from the factory and in my case making it the car I want. Thanks for the input

With the 4spd at I wonder if the earlier 04 models drive and feel different vs with the later 5spd at in later models up too 2006. I've always heard 4spd at has less issues I wonder why?

forget changing the transmission its not worth it. I dont care how much you love your car.Keep the transmission and just sell the car in a few years.

Kryogen Are transmissions in the 04-05 models more prone to failure than the 06 i've heard that and it seems the 6th gen 04s have more problems all together?
