How Much Should I Pay

New here and have never owned a Nissan.

Looking at purchasing an 06 Maxima SE. Owner is an auto body shop owner, so the car is in excellent condition, both interior and exterior. Never in an accident, red, sunroof and all bells and whistles on the interior except GPS. Drives great.

Oil changed every 3k according to schedule, but the car has 150k miles. I've always driven a Tundra and Toyota recommends a major checkup at 100k miles, which I have always done (I've got almost 300k on my 2001 and never an issue) - I would assume something similar to this is recommended by Nissan, but owner has not taken it in for this.

Owner is asking $6,800. Trying to decide what to offer. Any suggestions?

Compare with similar cars from Cars.com or autotrader.com in your area. You'll get a good idea. $6800 isn't bad

240 000km, 2006? here in canada, it would be worth maybe 4-5k MAX.
No one really wants a car with 240 000km....

in the usa, your cars are worth much less.

I don't know, offer 3k or look elsewhere.

you can probably get something really good with less miles somewhere else.

if youve never owned a nissan, an 06 maxima with 150k is NOT a good place to start.

6,800 is way too much. Find a 00-01 for half that price, and have half the problems. Or just look for other cars altogether

^^^ THIS.

There are so many 6th gens for sale around my area and around the country that you can find one for real cheap and they come with all kinds of low mileage. There is a reason why people don't want 6th gens, because they are crap (no offense 6th gens LOL)

5th gens on the other hand are practically non-existent now in good shape and basically cost the same as 6th gen if you ever see one in good shape. That's just in my area tho, maybe others are different, but 6th gens have a bad reputation and are a terrible value. TBH, I think I'd rather have any 5th gen w/ 150k on it over a 6th gen with half those miles and half the price.
