I have an '06 max had it for awhile this noise has been with me for months off an on it just recently came back and it goes with the acceleration of the engine and also as it idols it's been leaking as well I was wondering if these are related and if anyone knows the best course of action from here to get rid of this nuisance, thanks for reading

 

Where is the ticking noise coming from (ride top side of engine, under seat, dash, by radiator, between the visor, inside the glovebox....) more specifics .


Where is the leak? from the tailpipe, the wiperblades, top of engine, back of...... more specifics.........

 

I am no expert - far from it, but I had to have my time chain worked on. The pieces inside holding the timing chain are plastic. Like any plastic piece, they break and the timing chain causes the ticking sound.

Again, not sure on your issues, but I had a ticking sound and it was the timing chain components. If I remember right, it cost around $1500 to repair.

My 04 Maxima also makes a rattling noise sometimes( front end passenger side I think). I keep reading about the heat shield could cause that rattle if it is loose but I haven't been able to find any loose parts under hood and im not exactly sure what the heat shield looks like. If any one has a picture of the heat shield please share.
